New Delhi , India: Celebi Aviation Holdings is doubling down on its efforts to support the entry and expansion of foreign airlines in India, with discussions underway with carriers like Lufthansa, American Airlines, and Lion Air. According to Murali Ramachandran, President for India and Southeast Asia at Celebi Aviation, 75% of the company’s business already comes from foreign airlines, underscoring its reliance on international partnerships.
However, geopolitical disruptions have hindered the pace of growth for American and European airlines in India. Airspace restrictions over regions like Russia and Ukraine have delayed expansion plans. A contract with American Airlines for ground handling at Bengaluru airport, for instance, was postponed due to the ongoing war.
Despite these setbacks, Ramachandran remains optimistic. He expects a surge in operations from carriers such as Lufthansa, Lion Air, Cathay Pacific, and American Airlines, with India emerging as a pivotal market for passenger and freight services.
With a focus on foreign airline partnerships, Celebi is cementing its leadership in ground handling and cargo operations, poised to tap into the opportunities in India’s rapidly growing aviation industry.
