Ankara,Turkey: Four people lost their lives on Sunday when a helicopter crashed into a hospital in southwestern Turkey during takeoff, according to provincial authorities.

The helicopter, which was departing from the rooftop of a hospital in the city of Mugla, struck the fourth floor of the building and fell to the ground. Among the victims were two pilots, a doctor, and an employee onboard, Mugla Governor Idris Akbiyik confirmed.

"There was intense fog at the time," Akbiyik stated, noting that poor visibility likely contributed to the crash. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause.

The helicopter was en route to Antalya when the tragic incident occurred. Footage aired by NTV television captured the challenging weather conditions and the aftermath of the crash.
