KATHMANDU,NEPAL: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) aircraft will now use Gautam Buddha International Airport, Bhairahawa, as an alternate landing airport whenever flights are unable to land at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) due to various reasons.

A board meeting held on Sunday decided that, effective from Mangsir 3, any NAC aircraft requiring diversion will be routed to Bhairahawa instead of other airports.
According to NAC, the decision was formally endorsed on Mangsir 1.

The corporation stated that declaring Gautam Buddha International Airport as the alternate airport will significantly reduce diversion-related costs and save time during emergencies or unfavorable conditions at TIA.

NAC spokesperson Anil Ghimire informed that the corporation has also initiated a study to consider Pokhara International Airport as an additional alternate airport in the future.
