KATHMANDU, Nepal: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has reduced the fuel surcharge on domestic airfares after the Nepal Oil Corporation lowered aviation fuel prices by Rs 6 per liter, a move aimed at easing travel costs for passengers.

Under the revised structure, airfare on the Kathmandu to Dhangadhi route has been reduced by Rs 265, bringing the new fare to Rs 5,655. Charges for popular Mountain Flights have also been lowered by Rs 210, while the Kathmandu to Simara route has seen a reduction of Rs 55.

Aviation officials said the adjustment reflects standard fare revision mechanisms linked to fluctuations in aviation fuel prices. Fuel costs account for a significant portion of airline operating expenses, and any reduction directly impacts ticket pricing.

The decision is expected to provide modest relief to domestic travelers, particularly at a time when passenger demand is gradually stabilizing and airlines continue to manage high operational costs.

CAAN stated that it will continue to review airfare components in line with fuel price movements to maintain a balance between airline sustainability and passenger affordability.
