BHADRAPUR, Nepal: A Buddha Air aircraft operating Flight 901 from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur experienced a runway excursion while landing at Bhadrapur Airport in Jhapa district, with all passengers and crew escaping unharmed.

The flight was carrying 51 passengers and four crew members when the aircraft skidded off the runway during the landing phase. Nepal Police and airport authorities immediately responded, securing the aircraft and safely evacuating everyone onboard. No injuries were reported.

Officials confirmed that the aircraft veered off the runway while attempting a routine landing. Swift coordination between Buddha Air staff, Bhadrapur Airport authorities, and Nepal Police ensured a controlled response and prevented further escalation.

The incident has prompted an investigation by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, which is examining contributing factors including runway condition, weather, and operational procedures. Authorities are also reviewing airport infrastructure and safety preparedness as part of standard post incident protocols.

While the incident did not result in casualties, it once again highlights the operational challenges faced at regional airports and the importance of robust emergency response systems. Aviation officials emphasized that passenger safety remains the top priority and that findings from the investigation will be used to strengthen safety measures and operational standards.
