Kathmandu,Nepal: The Nepalese government has announced plans to introduce two crucial bills in the federal parliament that will separate aviation service providers from regulatory bodies, marking a significant reform in the country's aviation sector.
Government spokesperson Prithvi Subba Gurung revealed that the Cabinet, meeting at Singha Durbar on Sunday, approved legislation to establish and manage the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority, alongside a second bill to amend and consolidate existing Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) laws.
This structural separation aims to enhance regulatory oversight and operational efficiency within Nepal's aviation sector. The decision comes as part of broader government initiatives to strengthen national infrastructure and development.
During the same Cabinet meeting, officials approved the revised work report of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and appointed Shriram Subedi as chairman of the Kanti Children's Hospital Development Committee.
Addressing concerns about political stability, Gurung affirmed the government's commitment to economic development despite current challenges. He expressed confidence in the coalition's ability to maintain stability and eventually compete with larger political parties, emphasizing the administration's focus on strengthening both political and economic foundations.
