Kathmandu,Nepal: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has reported a remarkable financial performance, generating a total revenue of NPR 14.71 billion for the fiscal year 2080/81. During the authority's 26th anniversary celebration in Kathmandu, Director General Pradeep Adhikari highlighted that this figure includes NPR 11.51 billion from aeronautical sources and NPR 3.19 billion from non-aeronautical activities.

Adhikari also noted that the government invested NPR 10.52 billion in capital projects over the past year. The authority's total expenditures amounted to NPR 11.33 billion, which covers operational costs, depreciation, interest, and taxes. The operating profit for the fiscal year stood at NPR 3.37 billion.

In terms of passenger traffic, the number of international travelers passing through major airports like Tribhuvan International Airport, Gautam Buddha International Airport, and Pokhara International Airport reached approximately 4.15 million by November 2023, marking a 7.09% increase from the previous year. Domestic air travel also saw growth, with around 8.76 million passengers recorded by November 2024, reflecting a 13% rise.

Despite a slight reduction in the number of international airlines operating in Nepal due to the merger of Vistara Airlines with Air India, CAAN continues to facilitate regular flights to 29 international destinations across 16 countries.

With ongoing construction at Tribhuvan International Airport set to begin on November 8, 2024, the airport will be closed for ten hours daily until March 31, prompting airlines to adjust their schedules accordingly.

This impressive revenue achievement underscores CAAN's pivotal role in enhancing Nepal's aviation sector and its commitment to improving air travel infrastructure and services throughout the country.
