Cathay Pacific Apologizes After Food Poisoning Scare on Nepal-Hong Kong Flights

Kathmandu,Nepal: Cathay Pacific has issued a formal apology following reports of food poisoning affecting 36 passengers on two recent flights from Nepal to Hong Kong. The incidents occurred on flights CX640 on Tuesday and Wednesday, where passengers reported symptoms like nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain shortly after consuming in-flight meals.

Preliminary investigations suggest that sandwiches served on Wednesday's flight may have been the source, with 16 passengers falling ill within 10-30 minutes. On the Tuesday flight, 20 passengers experienced similar symptoms, with in-flight food identified as a potential common link.

In its statement, Cathay Pacific acknowledged the incident and emphasized that the contamination likely originated outside its direct operations. The airline promised swift corrective actions if the meals are confirmed as the cause, reaffirming its commitment to passenger safety.

The Center for Health Protection has launched an investigation to establish an epidemiological connection among the affected passengers.

"We deeply regret this situation and are taking it very seriously. Passenger health and safety remain our utmost priority," a Cathay Pacific spokesperson said.

This apology marks the airline's proactive approach in addressing the incident and restoring passenger confidence.
