Budapest, Hungary: Airbus is set to deliver the first-ever A321XLR equipped with Pratt & Whitney’s PW1100G engine to Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air. This marks a milestone in aviation as Wizz Air prepares to deploy the advanced aircraft on its new London Gatwick–Jeddah route, scheduled to begin operations in March.

The delivery highlights Wizz Air’s commitment to fuel-efficient and long-range technologies, with the airline having ordered 47 A321XLRs as part of its fleet expansion strategy. Pratt & Whitney’s engine certification by the FAA in December 2024 further underscores the readiness of this aircraft for global operations.

Since its launch at the 2019 Paris Air Show, the A321XLR has become a game-changer in the industry, securing nearly 500 orders worldwide. Designed for long-haul efficiency, the aircraft combines extended range with lower operating costs, catering to both budget and premium airlines.

Airbus is ramping up production to meet the surging demand for the A321neo family, aiming to produce 75 units per month by 2027. This strategic investment reflects the growing market preference for versatile, sustainable, and cost-effective air travel solutions.

With this delivery, Wizz Air is set to expand its operational footprint, leveraging the A321XLR's capabilities to strengthen its network and redefine long-haul low-cost travel.
