DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES: At the 2025 Dubai Airshow, China is spotlighting its latest military aviation technologies, including advanced unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and export-version fighter jets, in what appears to be a concerted push to deepen its presence in the Middle Eastern defense market.
State-owned China National Aero-Technology Import & Export Corporation (CATIC) is exhibiting a full-scale model of its Wing Loong-X tri-role drone — capable of launching air-to-ground and air-to-air missiles as well as anti-ship weapons — making what’s believed to be its first full-size static display outside China.
Alongside the drone, CATIC’s pavilion features scale models of two cutting-edge fighter jets: the J-10CE, a 4.5-generation export variant of the J-10C, and the J-35A, China’s land-based version of its fifth-generation stealth fighter.
Chinese defense analysts see the high-profile showcase as a deliberate effort to offer Middle Eastern nations more options in their military procurement, especially in unmanned and stealth platforms.
