India Denies Tejas Jet Suffered Oil Leak at Dubai Airshow: Routine Water Draining Confirmed

DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES: Indian authorities have rejected viral claims that the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas Mk 1 leaked engine oil during the Dubai Airshow 2025, clarifying that the fluid seen dripping in videos was actually condensed water from the aircraft’s environmental control systems.

According to the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the footage circulating online does not show a technical malfunction. Rather, it captures the routine draining of moisture from the Environmental Control System (ECS) and the On-Board Oxygen Generating System — a standard procedure, especially in humid environments like Dubai.

Experts explain this happens when hot bleed air from the engine is rapidly cooled, causing condensation, which is safely expelled overboard. (IDRW) Ground crew are said to have collected the water using paper bags — not because of a leak emergency, but simply for clean-up during static display.

Despite the clarifications, the incident quickly became a social media flashpoint, with critics mocking the aircraft’s reliability.
